Please join us for our 2nd QVHA walk/hike on Saturday November 29th. We know it is Thanksgiving weekend and it will be a great outing to bring your family, bring your friends, bring your dog (on a leash!) or simply bring yourself. The hike will be self paced so if you are fast or slow, all are welcome.

Beebe Woods

Beebe Woods, a 700 acre former estate, hosts an extensive network of walking trails that cover miles of varied terrain, exploring wooded ridges and steep-sided hollows, and encircling the picturesque pond known as the “Punch Bowl” that lies deep within the Woods. The trails also connect at the southern end of Beebe Woods to Ice House Pond and Peterson Farm, which is the trail we are planning for this hike. It is about 2.5 miles round trip.

Meet at Highfield Hall at 10:00am where the Beebe Woods Trail may be accessed by parking at Highfield Hall, 56 Highfield Drive, Falmouth MA

Old Barnstable Road 🡪 right onto 151 🡪 151 W to MA-28 S 🡪 Depot Ave in Falmouth 🡪 Follow Depot Ave & Highfield Drive to Highfield Hall.

Following the hike, there will be an option to visit Highfield Hall for The Shopkeepers’ Noël, the 2025 holiday display of captivating Victorian Christmas charm (admission to The Shopkeepers’ Noël, $15 for Members, $20 for Non-members, pre-registration is available online at Highfield Hall & Gardens.)

Highfield Hall

Built in 1878 as a summer haven for the Beebe family where they entertained in grand fashion and embraced a formal lifestyle. The Beebe family was a wealthy Boston dry-goods merchant family. In 1932 the last of the Beebe heirs passed away.

The TerHeun family purchased the property in 1949, and the Lilly (pharmaceuticals) family purchased the estate in 1972.

From the 1970’s – 1994 Highfield Hall fell into a state of disrepair, neglected and vandalized. A small group of Falmouth citizens formed Historic Highfield, Inc. and saved the structure from a certain demolition. In 2006 Highfield Hall officially opened to the public as a museum and historic site.
